Charter schools in my district are ridiculous, it's the state's "test case" basically and no one is willing to admit that they don't work. They use way more money for student than the regular public schools, get to pick and choose their students, and still don't have test scores that are any better. In short, I don't like them. You?

To be honest I do not know much about them to have anything negative or positive about them, however from what you say they sound like a bad idea.

Then you would be right, IMO, if we put that money into the public schools (which have accountability, unlike charter schools), then the charter-schoolists (not a word, but I'm pretending it is) wouldn't have so much to use against the charter schools. They take money from us, then the scores suffer, then we need more charter schools. I might say they're great for the lucky ones that get their lottery number drawn or however they pick students, except they're not even necessarily better, they're just a drain on the other schools.
