LOL, low voter turnout?
A perfect society would be one that didn't need a government I guess, a perfect government I don't know about. |

| I know what it wouldn't be, but not exactly what it would be. |

An island with no human inhabitants. History has proven time and time again it's nearly impossible to have a perfect society. There will always be people who will want to rebel or who want reform.
We need government to...well govern us. However, to find a perfect government would take years and it would be an extremely long process. Especially since not everyone can agree on one thing. |

"A dictator would be a heck of a lot easier, just as long as I'm the dictator." |

| thats the idea, as a supreme diety not only do I have power over people politically, but religiously as well. people are much more willing to build you a giant Pyramid if they believe it will help their souls or Karma or whatever... |

| Then people rebel and want reform. Not everybody thinks alike. |

And then they invent a new God who kills you and there ends your reign of godship. |

| Not if you keep them ignorant. plus the fundamentalist would protect me. and people are sheep, especially if those who speak out suddenly disappear. |

Not everyone's a sheep. Most people are, but not everyone. |

| Yes, but when people start to disappear thats when you get angry radical rebels who start secret cults against you. |

Than you create a secret police to infiltrate those groups. also, you keep the masses on your side by making sure they have plenty to eat, and are entertained.
I think it was Tiberius who once said " If you keep the publics attention with the left hand, you can control them with the right" or something to that extent.
Perception is everything, if people perceive that they are happy than they are happy. |

It's never be done successfully long-term before, what makes you think you could? |

It has been done for most of human history in some way or form. Ancient Egypt is a great example of this, they believed that the Pharoh was nearly a living god. Monarchies are based on the premise of deivine right and so on.
Those societies who fail make really two major mistakes. they ask to much of their populas at one time. or they screw around with the wrong foriegn peoples. take Nazi Germany for instance, had Hitler not gone and started world war two like he did, he could have had such a society. Hitler was also evil but his ideas of controlling the state were genius. |

Yeah and power changes hands every few decades.

| Not with the ideology that the Nazis developed. they were telling the Germans that they were a superior race, and he built them a lot of public works, which kept them happy. until about 1942 the German people lived pretty well under the Fuher and his goons. Power changes hands every few decades because humans are mortal, and people die. most leaders do not get into power until they are in their 30s or 40s, and throughout history the average lifespan was 50-60. one leader would be good, while the succeeding leader would suck. |
